On February 24, the Hungarian Ministry of Defense announced that 3000 new jobs will be created for contract soldiers. However, due to the economic crisis, a number of military events will be cancelled, including the Kecskemét airshow 2009.

Due to budget cuts, the Hungarian Ministry of Defense had to pare down its public relations expenses. This means, among others, that there will be no military parades at various state and local programs and events, and that the International Airshow Kecskemét 2009 will also be cancelled
. This, and the accompanying measures of the Ministry will channel the available funds to securing continued high performance in their field.
