The Fast and Furious: Hungarian Grand Prix – Hungaroring

August 2 - 5, 2007

World Championship 2007

Between August 2 and August 5, 2007,
Hungaroring will host an unparalleled show to entertain Formula 1 fans throughout the world.

Hungaroring, considered to be one of the safest racetracks in the world, is located in a 110-hectare valley near Mogyorod (just
19 kilometers north-east of Budapest
).

It is a genuine “natural amphitheater”, a natural bowl dubbed “The Shallow Plate”, because spectators can see 50 to 80 percent of the racetracks sitting on the hillside, as if they were sitting on the rim of a plate.

NEW THIS YEAR, and ONLY AT HUNGARORING:

The FIA Formula One Historic Cars will race during the weekend
.

Apart from the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the next generation F1 drivers from the GP2 series as well as the Porsche Super Cup pilots compete at the Hungaroring, and there will be a Historic Formula One also, on Saturday, August 4th, 2007. For a complete schedule of the Hungaroring events, click on the Official Program.

Note, however, that Hungaroring is not the only place where the Grand Prix events will take place. Laszlo Palik, CEO of Hungaroring Sport CC, and race car driver himself, announced at a press conference that there will be a magnificent show in the city of Budapest as well, including a procession of F1 cars on the Clark Adam ter – Lanchid – Roosevelt ter route (Adam Clark Square – Chain Bridge – Roosevelt Square).

In the mean time, world champion pilot Peter Bessenyei will start his airplane take-off in the Varalagut (Citadel Tunnel), then will fly over the Chain Bridge, and after a turn, will pass Below the bridge, right when the race cars are on it, thus making a giant loop.

The procession of F1 race cars will be lead up by the Hungarian participants of the Dakar Rally, with Laszlo Palik himself on one of the driver seats, and two of the drivers of the Historic Formula One cars will be none else than Niki Lauda and Gerhard Berger.

Budapest Street Parade:
  • Presentation of F1 cars,
  • Historic F1 cars,
  • Dakar cars, and
  • Red Bull air show.
Date: Thursday, August 2, 2007
Start: 11:00 AM
Location: Citadel Tunnel - Clark Adam Square - Chain Bridge - Roosevelt Square

Omega Concert

To round off the pre-race events of Hungaroring’s 22nd Grand Prix, on Saturday, August 4th, 2007 the Hungarian rock band OMEGA, called “the oldest touring rock band after Rolling Stones”, will give a concert in the Hungaroring parking lot.

Watch an earlier recording of them performing live with Scorpions.

Start: 8:30 PM
Tickets available at: http://www.hungaroinfo.com/formel1/tickets_ext_omega_en.htm

73 TV channels aired last year’s events, and you can also get a taste of it on YouTube.
204 million people joined in on TV in 2006, and the organizers are shooting for 400 million this year.

Be there, or be square!
