8th Animation Film Festival Kecskemet (KAFF)

Between June 20 and June 24, 2007, Kecskemet welcomes animation film enthusiasts from all over the world.

KAFF goes back 22 years in history, and its main purpose is to provide an opportunity to local producers of animation film to introduce themselves, and to compete with each other. For the past 5 years, the event presents films made throughout Europe, especially all night long films and TV-shows.

This year works of mainly young artists from 26 countries will take center stage at the Animation Film Festival in Kecskemet. Due to the overwhelming majority of the younger generation, a winner will be announced in a new category: “the best final exam” film. One hundred Hungarian, and about 50 foreign films were entered in this 8th Animation Film Festival.

Official languages of the Festival are Hungarian and English.

Besides movie presentations, the Festival includes theatrical events, exhibits, and professional workshops as well. This year’s main subjects are the folk tale and our traditions, and the question raised is, “Do we need to protect our national traits?”

Approximately 400 films will be shown at three locations: Ferenc Erdei Cultural Center (Erdei Ferenc Művelődési Központ), the Youth Home of Kecskemet (Kecskeméti Ifjúsági Otthon), and on the Main Square.
