End of October 2007 – January 15, 2008
The “Wooden Objects Evoking the Past
” (Multidezo Fatargyak
) exhibition opened at the Finta Museum in Turkeve
is a collection of wooden statues portraying historic figures from the Hungarian Conquest as well as a display of objects introducing the peasant lifestyle. The exhibit was meant to draw attention to the work of the woodcarvers in the area, emphasizing community values and treasures.
Native artisans are joined by the Nimfea Environment and Nature Conservation Association
in this endeavor, since an event providing a worthy setting for the appreciation of the local craftsmanship is in harmony with the Association’s land rehabilitation efforts.
The exhibit organized by Dr. Julianna Orsi, Janos Zsolt Kapas and Aniko Tarczali displays a collection from the works of the woodcarvers Lajos Bodnar
, Lajos Deak
, Sandor Racz
, Janos Repas
, Lajos Talamasz
, and Gyorgy Gonczi
Accept the heartfelt invitation extended by the organizers. Come see the wooden statues, and spread the word about the talent of the local woodcarvers, thus contributing to the survival of a noble craft
